To mark the fifth successful year in operation, Mr. Dilroy Fernando, the Executive Director of Agoal Rugby Academy convened a media conference yesterday (7th April 2009) to detail the performance of Agoal during the last five years and to outline the future plans which includes organizing an international youth rugby tournament in Sri Lanka.

Agoal U12 emerged the runners-up once again in the 10-a-side junior rugby tournament organized by the Rugby Development Foundation of D. S. Senanayake College last Saturday 14th March 2009 at CR & FC grounds, Colombo.

The young rugby players of Agoal made their presence felt strongly when they performed exceptionally well in the Bangkok Junior International Rugby Tens played on the 21st and 22nd of February 2009 at Bangkok Patana School Stadium, Thailand.
Participating for the first time in a tournament of this nature, U12-A team of Agoal showed its metal against heavy Hong Kong University Sandy Bay team in the cup finals and emerged runners-up after a rousing game. Both U12-B and U10 teams which comprised with many talented players became the bowl runners-up in their respective age categories. The U14 team who experienced a vast physical contrast against their opponent right throughout, managed to win the bowl championship.
While it was a unforgettable experience and a confidence booster for the young rugby players, with this exposure Agoal Rugby Academy too was able to unearth and note down some serious talent among its young members which is a positive sign for future Sri Lankan rugby.
